Could stem cells help fight frailty? new study begins

NCT ID NCT07462819

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether a new cell therapy called Stemis™ is safe for older adults (ages 60–85) with mild to moderate frailty. Frailty causes weakness and slower movement, and no approved drug exists yet. About 12 participants will receive either Stemis™ or a placebo, and researchers will monitor for side effects and measure walking speed, grip strength, and quality of life. The goal is to gather safety data, not to treat frailty directly.
