Summary
This study tested whether stem cell injections could protect the body's insulin-producing cells in people recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Researchers gave 63 participants either the stem cell treatment or a placebo to see if it could slow or stop the immune system's attack on the pancreas. The goal was to help patients produce more of their own insulin and reduce their need for insulin injections.
