First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests whether stem cells from umbilical cord lining are safe and can help reduce symptoms of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD), a genetic disease that causes muscle weakness. Sixteen adults with FSHD will receive two doses of the stem cells and two doses of a placebo through an IV, with each dose given three months apart. The study will track side effects and measure changes in muscle function over 21 months.
