New hope for growing stronger bones: stem cell trial for fragile children

NCT ID NCT05559801

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether infusions of donor stem cells are safe and might help children with a severe form of brittle bone disease (osteogenesis imperfecta type 3). Researchers will give 12 children, aged 3 to 10, six stem cell infusions over two years to see if it helps them grow taller and makes their bones less prone to fractures. The main goals are to check for safety and see if the treatment improves growth rates and bone health.
