Scientists test 'Repair Cells' to reverse diabetic blindness

NCT ID NCT03403699

Summary

This early-stage study is exploring whether stem cells created from a patient's own blood can repair damaged blood vessels in the eyes of people with diabetic retinopathy. Researchers will grow special 'repair cells' in the lab and test them in animal eyes first. The goal is to develop a future treatment that could restore blood flow and prevent vision loss from diabetes complications.
