Lab-Grown heart cells implanted in failing hearts: a new hope?

NCT ID NCT04945018

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This early-stage trial tests whether injecting lab-grown heart muscle cells (made from stem cells) into the heart is safe and can help people with severe heart failure caused by blocked arteries. Ten participants receive the cell injection and are followed for 26 weeks to check for side effects and any improvement in heart pumping strength. The goal is to control the disease and improve heart function, not to cure it.
