Common pill may shield sleep apnea patients from heart danger
NCT ID NCT05289063
Summary
This study is testing if adding a low-dose cholesterol medication (atorvastatin) to standard CPAP therapy can reduce inflammation in the blood vessels of adults with sleep apnea. The goal is to see if this approach can lower the high risk of heart disease linked to sleep apnea. About 110 newly diagnosed adults will take either the medication or a placebo pill daily for four weeks while researchers measure specific markers of inflammation and blood vessel health.
