Vision test could spot if cholesterol drug helps save sight
NCT ID NCT04735263
Summary
This study is testing if a high dose of a common cholesterol-lowering drug (atorvastatin) can slow the progression of intermediate age-related macular degeneration (AMD), a leading cause of vision loss. Researchers will give the drug to 21 participants and use a special 'dark adaptation' vision test to see if it can detect early signs that the treatment is working, before permanent damage occurs. The goal is to find a way to control the disease and preserve vision.
