Brain wave study reveals speed of new sedative in healthy volunteers

NCT ID NCT07020988

First seen Jan 21, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tested how quickly Staccato alprazolam (an inhaled sedative) starts working compared to two other sedatives given by IV or nasal spray. Fifty-five healthy adults received single doses of each drug in a crossover design, and their brain waves were monitored to measure onset of action. The goal was to understand the drug's speed, not to treat any disease.
