MRNA injection aims to turn back Skin's clock

NCT ID NCT06567119

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early study tests a new injection called SPOT-mRNA01 in 10 healthy adults to see if it's safe and tolerable. The injection delivers mRNA that tells skin cells to make more collagen, which could reduce signs of aging. Participants receive a single shot under the skin, and researchers monitor side effects and measure collagen levels in the skin.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

SPOT-mRNA01 (a messenger RNA that tells cells to produce collagen, delivered in tiny bubbles called extracellular vesicles)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a non-surgical treatment to reduce skin aging by boosting collagen.

What could go wrong

This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 10 people, so it's mainly checking safety, not effectiveness. The approach is new and may not produce meaningful cosmetic results.
