Heart drug trial aims to strengthen weakened aorta

NCT ID NCT07483177

Summary

This small pilot study is testing if a common blood pressure medication called spironolactone can reduce stiffness in the main artery leaving the heart (the aorta) in people with a thoracic aortic aneurysm. The goal is to see if the drug helps control the condition by making the artery wall more flexible. Researchers will compare the drug's effects against a placebo in 50 adults who have this type of aneurysm but do not have certain genetic conditions.
