Spinal zap trial aims to unfreeze Parkinson's Patients' steps

NCT ID NCT06630702

Summary

This study is testing whether a temporary, minimally invasive spinal cord stimulator can help people with advanced Parkinson's disease walk more steadily. The device, placed near the spine, sends electrical pulses and is being tried to reduce episodes where patients suddenly feel their feet are 'frozen' to the ground, a major cause of falls. Researchers will measure changes in walking patterns, balance, and confidence in five patients to see if this approach is safe and helpful.
