Scientists test new scan to track spine fusion in arthritis

NCT ID NCT00085995

Summary

This study aimed to find a better way to measure how quickly the spine stiffens and fuses in people with ankylosing spondylitis, a form of arthritis. Researchers compared detailed CT scans to regular X-rays to see which method could detect changes in bone growth more accurately over time. The goal was to improve measurement tools for future studies testing whether medications can slow down this spinal fusion process.
