Doctors test secret pain settings in spinal implants

NCT ID NCT03670147

Summary

This study tested whether lower-intensity settings on spinal cord stimulators could still effectively relieve chronic pain. Researchers secretly switched 10 patients with implanted devices to lower settings to see if their pain returned. The goal was to better understand how these devices work and help doctors select the best candidates for this expensive treatment.
