Nasal nerve block eases spinal headache in small pilot study
NCT ID NCT07494383
First seen Mar 31, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This pilot study tested a nasal nerve block (sphenopalatine ganglion block) using lidocaine against standard care (bed rest and fluids) for headache after accidental spinal needle puncture. 26 adults were enrolled. The main goal was to see if the study was feasible, not to prove the treatment works. Results showed the block may reduce pain quickly, but larger studies are needed.
