First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 trial is testing a daily pill called sotorasib (AMG510) in people with stage III lung cancer that has a specific genetic change (KRAS G12C) and cannot be treated with standard chemotherapy plus radiation. The study will enroll about 19 participants to see if the drug can delay cancer growth. The pill works by blocking the mutant protein that drives the cancer.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Sotorasib (AMG510), a targeted pill that blocks the KRAS G12C mutant protein
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could offer a new treatment option for people with a specific genetic lung cancer who cannot tolerate standard therapy.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-phase trial with only 19 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The drug may not control the cancer long-term or could cause side effects.
