Pill before surgery may reduce scarring for skin cancer patients
NCT ID NCT03534947
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 22 times
Summary
This study tested whether taking a daily pill called sonidegib for 12 weeks could shrink basal cell skin cancers in cosmetically tricky areas (like the face) before surgery. The goal was to make surgery less scarring or even avoid it entirely. Sixteen adults with this type of skin cancer participated. The approach aims to control the disease and improve cosmetic outcomes, but ongoing management may still be needed.
