Twin study seeks genetic clues to childhood brain cancer

NCT ID NCT06054295

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at 50 twins where only one child has a central nervous system tumor. Researchers will compare DNA from blood and saliva samples to see if small genetic differences (called somatic mosaicism) explain why one twin gets cancer and the other stays healthy. The goal is to better understand what causes these tumors, not to test a new treatment.
