New fluid therapy tested in fight against deadly septic shock

NCT ID NCT03528213

Summary

This pilot study tested whether infusing sodium lactate, compared to normal saline, could help better manage fluid levels in patients with septic shock. It involved 59 critically ill patients and measured how the treatment affected fluid balance, organ failure, and survival over the first week. The goal was to see if this approach could improve outcomes for this severe condition.
