Wearable cameras and blood tests could revolutionize diet tracking

NCT ID NCT06879574

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Aug 14, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing whether a combination of wearable cameras, blood and urine samples, and online food questionnaires can accurately measure what people eat in their daily lives. About 133 adults in Great Britain will use these tools over 5 weeks, including a week where they eat a set meal plan. The goal is to see if these methods work well outside of a clinic, which could improve how we study nutrition.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to more accurate and easy-to-use tools for measuring what people eat outside of a clinic, helping improve nutrition research.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage observational study with only 133 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The tools might be burdensome or inaccurate in real-world settings.
