Summary
This study tested whether using existing social networks could help people in Hispanic and Somali immigrant communities lose weight and improve their heart health. Researchers worked with 475 participants in Minnesota to see if group support within their communities led to better results over 12 months. The goal was to find a culturally relevant way to address obesity and reduce cardiovascular risk factors.
