Teen brain scans reveal social Media's hidden impact on depression

NCT ID NCT06817993

First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026

Summary

This study aims to develop a new brain-scan task that mimics social media to see how it affects teens with depression. About 60 teens aged 13-17 with mild to severe depressive symptoms will have their brains scanned while using a custom social media app. They will also answer daily surveys about their online experiences. The goal is to understand the brain activity behind social media's link to emotional health, not to test a treatment.
