Could loneliness be shortening lives in schizophrenia?

NCT ID NCT07419321

Summary

This study aims to understand if social isolation contributes to the poorer physical health and shorter lifespan often seen in people with schizophrenia. Researchers will follow 650 people, including 500 with schizophrenia and 150 of their siblings, to see how social connections relate to health problems like heart disease and diabetes over time. The goal is to identify if reducing isolation could be a target for future therapies to improve health and longevity.
