New program aims to ease stress for dementia caregivers

Summary

This study tested a new program called MASC (Mindful and Self-Compassionate Care Program) for caregivers of people with Alzheimer's or related dementias. The program teaches mindfulness, self-compassion, and behavior management skills to help reduce caregiver stress. 82 caregivers participated to see if the program was feasible and helpful. The goal was to improve caregivers' quality of life, not to cure the disease.
