First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study looks at whether Native American adults who smoke can lower their risk of long-term pain by quitting smoking for 4 weeks. Participants will get help to stop smoking and then have pain tests, like cold water and mild electric shocks, to see how their body handles pain. The goal is to see if this type of study is possible and to gather early data on how quitting smoking affects pain.
