Smartwatch could catch silent heart flutters after surgery

NCT ID NCT05573633

First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tests whether a smartwatch can find hidden, symptom-free atrial fibrillation (AFib) in people who recently had heart surgery. About 324 adults will either use a smartwatch to record their heart's rhythm or receive standard monitoring for the first five days after leaving the intensive care unit. The goal is to catch silent AFib episodes that could otherwise lead to stroke or other complications.
