Summary
This study is testing a smartphone-based artificial intelligence (AI) system that can detect 16 different eye diseases from photos taken with a standard Android phone. The AI works entirely on the phone, so no internet connection is needed. Researchers will enroll 3,000 adults to see how accurate the system is compared to eye doctors, and how easy it is for people to use on their own. The goal is to make eye disease screening accessible in low-resource areas where internet and specialists are scarce.
