Smart patch aims to catch pneumonia early in hospital patients

NCT ID NCT07237633

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated Apr 16, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study is testing a new, sticker-like sensor that listens to a patient's lungs. The goal is to see if it can help doctors screen for pneumonia in high-risk patients, like those recovering from a stroke or on kidney dialysis. About 70 participants will wear the sensor daily for up to two weeks while in the hospital. The sensor's readings will be compared to standard chest X-rays to check its accuracy.
