Summary
This study is testing a new 'smart' version of deep brain stimulation for people with severe essential tremor. The device is designed to sense when a tremor is starting and deliver stimulation only at that moment, rather than running continuously. Researchers hope this approach will be just as effective at controlling tremors while reducing side effects like speech problems and making the device battery last much longer.
