Yale tests 'Smart Alerts' to stop silent kidney damage in hospitals

NCT ID NCT02786277

Summary

This study tested a new computer system designed to send alerts only to doctors whose hospitalized patients with sudden kidney injury were most likely to benefit. The goal was to prevent the kidney injury from getting worse, needing dialysis, or causing death, while reducing unnecessary alerts that doctors might ignore. Over 2,000 adult patients at four teaching hospitals participated.
