Simple surgical tweak could stop heartburn after Weight-Loss surgery
NCT ID NCT07560787
First seen May 07, 2026 · Last updated May 07, 2026
Summary
This study looked at whether adding a small repair to the stomach opening (crural repair) and tacking the stomach down (gastropexy) during sleeve gastrectomy helps reduce acid reflux. 50 adults with severe obesity and no hiatal hernia took part. Half got the standard sleeve surgery, and half got the extra repair. The goal was to see if the extra steps improved heartburn symptoms one year after surgery.
