Sleep pill tested to stop Post-Surgery confusion in heart patients

NCT ID NCT07217912

Summary

This study is testing if a sleep medication called daridorexant can prevent delirium—a state of sudden confusion and disorientation—in older adults after heart surgery. About 80 participants aged 60+ will take either the study drug or a placebo for three nights after their surgery. Researchers will check daily for signs of confusion and ask about sleep quality to see if the medication helps.
