Smartwatch sleep test could diagnose millions of hidden sleep apnea cases

NCT ID NCT04496843

First seen Feb 25, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study checks if a Withings smartwatch can accurately detect sleep apnea by measuring movement, heart rate, breathing, and blood oxygen. About 220 adults who are already scheduled for a hospital sleep test will wear the watch overnight. The goal is to see if the watch can replace expensive, hard-to-get sleep lab tests for screening.
