Microscope seeks hidden skin damage from cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT04610645

Summary

This study tested whether a special imaging tool called OCT could detect very early skin damage from radiation therapy before it becomes visible or causes symptoms. Researchers followed 30 head and neck cancer patients, scanning their skin before, during, and after treatment. The goal was to see if these early microscopic changes could predict later skin problems and affect quality of life.
