New device zaps skin cancers with targeted radiation

NCT ID NCT02131805

Summary

This study tested a new electronic device that delivers radiation directly to the skin's surface to treat early-stage basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas. It involved 36 participants aged 60 and older to see how well the treatment worked, how safe it was, and what the cosmetic results looked like. The main goals were to see if the treatment controlled the cancer for three years and to assess the appearance of the skin afterward.
