Pill before surgery aims to shrink skin cancer, reduce facial scarring

NCT ID NCT03534947

Summary

This study tested a new approach for people with basal cell carcinoma (a common skin cancer) in sensitive areas like the face. Patients took a daily pill called sonidegib for 12 weeks before surgery. The goal was to shrink the tumor so the surgery would be smaller, cause less scarring, and potentially be avoided altogether. The study involved 16 participants and used a special skin scan to measure results.
