Scientists shine light on skin cancer's hidden immune battle

NCT ID NCT05020912

Summary

This study aims to understand how a light-based treatment called photodynamic therapy (PDT) affects the body's immune response to basal cell carcinoma, a common type of skin cancer. Researchers will study 28 participants who are already scheduled for surgery to remove their skin cancers. By comparing a treated tumor to an untreated one in the same person, they hope to learn if PDT helps the immune system better recognize and fight cancer cells.
