New device helps ICU patients stand sooner, reducing muscle weakness

Summary
This pilot study tested whether a sit/stand stabilizer (Liana® mobilizer) helps critically ill patients on breathing support stand more often during their ICU stay. Forty adults expected to stay in the ICU for at least 2 more days were randomly assigned to use the device or receive standard care. The goal was to see if the device could help patients reach standing milestones, improve muscle strength, and ease the workload for healthcare staff.
