Custom 3D-printed bone blocks may improve dental implant success
NCT ID NCT07604155
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests two methods of sinus lift surgery to rebuild bone in the upper jaw for people who need dental implants. 28 adults with thin jawbone will receive either a custom 3D-printed allogenic bone block or traditional bone granules. Researchers will measure how much bone height is gained and how well the bone holds up around the implants.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
allogenic bone graft (either CAD/CAM customized block or particulate)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that custom 3D-printed bone blocks work better than traditional bone granules for rebuilding the jaw before dental implants.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 28 people, so results may not apply to everyone. Both methods involve surgery and carry risks like infection or graft failure.
