Heart failure drug withdrawal trial seeks safer treatment plans

NCT ID NCT07489547

First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at whether people with stable heart failure whose heart function has improved can safely stop taking a type of medication called a mineralocorticoid antagonist (MRA). Researchers will compare those who stop the drug (taking a placebo instead) with those who continue it, monitoring heart function and blood markers over 24 weeks. The goal is to see if stopping the drug leads to any worsening of heart health. The study involves 90 adults with stable heart failure and improved heart pumping ability.
