Gene test could make h. pylori treatment easier and more effective

NCT ID NCT07439445

First seen Mar 28, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests a simpler treatment for Helicobacter pylori infection, a bacteria that can cause stomach ulcers. Researchers will use a stool test to check if the bacteria have a gene that makes them resistant to the antibiotic clarithromycin. If no resistance is found, patients will take a two-week course of vonoprazan and clarithromycin. The goal is to see if this approach leads to high eradication rates with fewer side effects. About 70 adults who have never been treated for H. pylori will participate.
