First seen Jan 24, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tests whether sildenafil (a drug often used for erectile dysfunction) can reduce blood vessel damage in people with a left ventricular assist device (LVAD), a mechanical heart pump for advanced heart failure. About 50 adults with an LVAD will receive either sildenafil or a placebo. Researchers will use ultrasound and a tiny camera pill to check for changes in blood vessel stiffness and gut bleeding. The goal is to see if sildenafil can lower the risk of stroke and bleeding.
