Viagra pill tested to heal injured brains
NCT ID NCT05782244
Summary
This study is testing if sildenafil citrate, the active ingredient in Viagra, can improve blood flow in the brain and help with long-term symptoms after a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Researchers will give 160 adults with chronic TBI either sildenafil or a placebo pill for four weeks to find the safest and most effective dose. The main goal is to see if the drug can improve how blood vessels in the brain function, which might help reduce ongoing symptoms like headaches, memory problems, and fatigue.
