Blood test may predict ICU death risk

NCT ID NCT07493759

First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study examined 570 critically ill adults in the ICU to see if a blood test called the Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index (SII) could predict who might die. The SII measures inflammation and immune response from a standard blood sample. Researchers found that higher SII levels were linked to higher death rates, suggesting it could be a cheap and fast way to assess risk.
