Scientists probe the painful mystery of sickle cell ulcers
NCT ID NCT04983654
Summary
This study aimed to understand why painful, slow-healing leg ulcers are so common in adults with sickle cell disease. Researchers compared 70 adults with and without ulcers, measuring blood flow, nerve function, and substances in the blood and wound fluid. The goal was to learn more about what causes these ulcers and how different treatments help them heal.
