New sickle cell drug enters first human tests – could it ease the pain?

Summary
This early-stage study tests a new medicine called BMS-986470 in healthy volunteers and people with sickle cell disease. The main goal is to check safety and how the body handles the drug. Up to 184 participants will receive either the drug or a placebo to find the right dose and see if it helps control the disease.
