New shoulder block may spare breathing while matching pain relief
NCT ID NCT06844630
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tested two types of nerve blocks for pain after arthroscopic shoulder surgery in 60 adults. The standard interscalene block can sometimes weaken the diaphragm, making breathing harder. The newer infraspinatus-teres minor interfascial block aims to avoid that side effect. Researchers wanted to see if the newer block provides similar pain relief without affecting breathing.
