New shoulder stretch could help bowlers throw faster with less pain
NCT ID NCT07229274
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a combination of special stretches and movement retraining can reduce shoulder pain and improve motion in fast bowlers with a condition called GIRD (limited internal rotation). 42 male cricketers aged 18-45 will be split into two groups: one gets the new exercise combo, the other gets standard physical therapy. The goal is to see which approach works better for pain, range of motion, and daily function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Mulligan mobilization with movement and kinetic medial rotation control exercises
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a targeted exercise program to reduce shoulder pain and improve range of motion in fast bowlers.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 42 participants, so results may not apply to all athletes. The exercises may not work better than standard therapy.
