New way to track shoulder recovery tested in small study

NCT ID NCT07635550

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This pilot study looked at whether measuring arm speed in 3D can help track recovery in people with shoulder pain (subacromial pain syndrome). Thirteen adults had their shoulder movement measured before and after a standard 4-session rehab program. The goal was to see if these speed measurements change with treatment and relate to pain and activity limits.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could give doctors a simple, accurate way to measure shoulder movement and guide rehabilitation for people with shoulder pain.

What could go wrong

This is a very small pilot study with only 13 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. It is designed to test a measurement method, not to prove a treatment works.
