Scientists test faster, sharper radiation to fight returning prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT03388619

Summary

This study tested a new, shorter radiation schedule for men whose prostate cancer returns after surgery. Researchers wanted to see if delivering radiation in 2 to 4 weeks, instead of the usual 6 to 7, was safe and caused manageable side effects. They also tested a more targeted approach, focusing a higher dose on visible tumors while giving a lower dose to the surrounding area.
